Construction
The Turkish quarter is located within the borders of the Fatih district, and it starts from the Tekfur Palace and extends to Balat, including the İvaz Efendi Mosque, Herakleios Walls, Anemas Dungeons, Blakernai Church, Cabir Mosque, and Lonca and Karabaş neighborhoods. Due to the presence of the Blakernai Church and the Ayazma, the neighborhood is a district of spiritual value for Orthodox Christians, and for Muslims due to the graves of the companions who were martyred in front of the walls during the Arab Sieges. In addition to the city walls, mosque, graveyard, fountain, and 15 registered civil architecture wooden structures, there are new reinforced concrete structures built over time in the project area.
Project Description
In the project works; property status, existing texture, registered civil architecture examples, registered monuments, lost street texture, green areas, and religious structures in the area were taken into account. The area has been designed in accordance with the identity of the Historic Peninsula and in a way that meets the social, cultural, and economic needs of today’s urban structure, as well as living and comfort standards. In the project area, the buildings in parcels 1,2,3, and 4, which were based on the wall on the 2672 block, were removed, and a green band was created between the walls and the structures. The project area is designed to include 15 registered civil architecture buildings, 9 reinforced concrete structures, Toklu Dede Masjid, and 1 hotel structure.
