Construction
The Bâb-ı Kebir, opposite the Alay Mansion, which is the most important of the gates through which the entrance to the Bâb-ı Ali
complex is provided, preserved its feature as the main gate of the Ottoman administrative center until the mid-19th century.
The monumental gate that has survived to the present day was built in its current location in 1843 instead of another gate a little
further back.
In general, the Bâb-ı Kebir which is dominated by imperial elements has a very monumental appearance with its high and wide wavy soffit in baroque style in line with the architectural-artistic trend of the period. Its originality has been preserved to a great extent from the time it was built to the present day.
