Construction
The area where the Hidayet Mosque is located was also called the “angels do not come street” due to the inappropriate use of the boathouses and the bachelor’s rooms above the boathouses. Sultan Mahmud II had the Hidayet Mosque built in H.1229/M.1814 by demolishing all the aforementioned buildings on the street. It was built in H.1229/M.1814 as a two-storey mosque wood in H.1229/M.1814. The mosque, which was made of wood, was rebuilt as masonry by Alexandre Vallaury in H.1305/M.1887-88 by Sultan II. Abdülhamid. Hidayet Mosque, which sits on a rectangular area of 26.03×12.23 m, is located in the commercial fabric, and it shows a two-storey extraordinary structure, the lower part of which is used as a warehouse/cellar, just like the Rüstem Pasha Mosque. The wall separating the sanctuary and the narthex, the floor of the hall, and the interior decorations have also been converted to their original form. Together with the above-mentioned elements, the facade of the building, its static condition, infrastructure, and wooden elements were taken into consideration as a whole and it was designed with necessary interventions.
